Introduction to Speedskating

INTRODUCTION TO SPEED SKATING

new dates announced in the fall of 2025.

 
Do you play hockey, ringette, inline, Can Skate or figure skating?  Why not try the long blades!!
If you would like to try speed skating before you commit to a full season at the outset, then the best way to start is to enroll in one of our Introduction To Speed Skating, ITSS programs during the skating season (September - March). This will introduce you to the skills and thrills of the sport for a limited time and price.

You will receive:

  • 3 consecutive ice sessions 
  • your choice of Tuesday 7 pm or Friday 6:30 pm
  • instruction from our coaches
  • use of speed skates
  • speed skate fitting - you will be sent an email with your skate fitting date and appointment time prior to your first session.

These will be held during our regular ice time at the Mount Joy Community Centre and Arena in Markham.

3 sessions for $95. + taxes and IceReg service fees. 

Bring your curiosity, a mind set to learn, and a desire to excel!

This program is not a custodial setting. As such, parents are required to stay at the rink during the sessions when their child is skating, in order to provide rink-side support in case of an emergency. We kindly request the help of parents to put the mats on the ice at the beginning of the sessions.
