MARKHAM SPEED SKATING CLUB WINTER DRYLAND

Home

Winter dryland training is a way to practice and enhance skating skills and to stay fit off the ice during the winter season by doing exercises indoors to supplement your skating training.
All national level speed skaters devote at least as much time doing dryland activities in the gym and in the weight room as they spend on the ice, so there is nothing unusual about it at all.

Everyone can benefit from it, regardless of ability.
This is especially true for less experienced skaters who only skate one hour per week.

Both our summer and winter dryland training provide a combination of activities which develop:

  • skating motions
  • muscle strength
  • aerobic stamina.

Our once-weekly program allows you to maintain a minimum level in each of these elements.
You may also to add to it by following your own supervised weight training program.
